DT - Exploring attaching materials to one another:

The children explored using a variety of methods to attach the shapes to the material. 

Tractor visit: 

Wow what a morning we have had a visit from a tractor. 
Full stops:

We recapped full stops and how to use them. We used playdough to mark the full stops. The children have had  lots of fun spotting my mistakes.  

Pattern in maths:

We have been exploring patterns and how to create a pattern around a shape. This has really challenged the children to know what to stop with to make sure it is still pattern. 

DT- Investigating pattern:

The children worked together to create a pattern. We talked about what type of pattern of pattern they made whether it was the shapes that repeated or the colours. We discussed how to make an AB, AABB, ABC, ABBA, patterns etc...

Science: 

We have had a fantastic time being scientists exploring materials and their purposes. We experimented with what materials are good to dry your hands with. 

If I were Prime Minister:

The children have enjoyed exploring the If I were Prime Minister book and have used their imaginations to pick five things they would change such as, flowers would be sweets, grass to be trampolines, every garden has to have a pool etc... The children then presented their ideas to the class and the children then voted for the five changes they liked the best. 

Christian cat Wedding:

We hosted a Christian cat wedding to demonstrate what traditionally happens at a Christian wedding. The children loved this and enjoyed being at the wedding, watching the ceremony. The children have learnt new key vocabulary such as, marriage, bride, groom, aisle, pew, engagement etc... 

Eggs!

We have been looking at ICT with receptions and numbers and we also had some chicks to look at. We watched the chicks hatch from the eggs and had a guess at when the next egg would hatch. It has been super exciting watching them today. By Friday we had watched three eggs hatch and so we had four heathy chicks who have now gone back to their owner to be cared for. The children enjoyed learning and watching the changes happen which has linked with our PSHE work on changes. 

ICT and Geography

We have been using coding in ICT to move our characters across the screen.

In Geography we have been looking at the seaside and how the tide works and what happens to the sea and sand.

DT - Joseph and his multi-coloured dream coat: 

 

We have spent some time unpicking the Bible story of Joseph and his multi-coloured dream coat. The children enjoyed using the props to help tell the story and make it more memorable.
