Autumn 2 Overview – Take a look at what we are getting up to this term.

Design and Technology 

Rashford Class were appointed as chief roller-coaster designers for a UK theme park. They had to create a scale model (not full size!) which was tested in the classroom – by a marble.

History

We are learning about crime and punishment. So far we have learnt about the Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Tudors and Dick Turpin. Their punishments were brutal! 

Our hoodies have arrived, yippee!

Science

This term we are learning all about life cycles.

Basketball

Well done to our team for taking part in the after-school basketball tournament.

We have learnt about the story of Moses' life. He was born in a time when the pharaoh killed all baby boys. After 40 years, God spoke from a burning bush. He told Moses' to go back and save the Israelites. After ten plagues consisting of frogs and gnats, the pharaoh agreed to free the Israelites. Then Moses' went to Mount Sinai where he got the ten commandments from God.

Anti-Bullying Week

We had a super afternoon taking part in anti-bullying week, we made pledges and completed a celebration wheel.

Bikeability

Today, Year 5 passed their level 2 Bikeability course. Congratulations to you all!

Number Day

On Friday 7th November we celebrated Number Day using the theme 'money'. We took part in lots of exciting activities.

We have been looking at healthy screen time and finding the right balance.

Poetry

Today we have been looking at poetry and the theme 'play'. We got to meet Alex Wharton, who is a poet. He read us a poem called Jellybean and Mr. Slime. We planned our own letter poem so we could write our own.

We explored different types of quizzes and identified their features, strengths and weaknesses, and we also explored the features of 2Quiz and experimented with creating quiz questions.
