Autumn 1

Autumn 1 Overview - Read all about what we are learning this term.

Road to Riat

Road to RIAT is a fun, four-part programme with aviation and sustainability at its heart.

It kicked off with a half day STEM day where we built a rocket.  Then it was the Competition…

The challenge was design a sustainable aircraft, the judges are looking for creative young people who love design and can work in teams.  By competing, students learnt about aerospace and sustainability.

Geography

Take a look at some of our future transport ideas.

Our day out at the Crich Tramway Village.

English

Writing diary entries as if we were Tim Peake in the International Space Station.

Making Monotypes

In this art topic children explored the process of making monotypes. We started with an introduction to monotypes, and then children explored the work of an artist who uses monotypes to build sculptures and installations. Children developed their mark making skills through a simple warm up exercise, before focussing upon a project which gave them the opportunity to use the monotype process (combined with painting and collage) to make a “zine”, inspired by a piece of poetry.  Throughout the project children used their sketchbooks to collect ideas, test methods, and explore colour, line and mark making.

Congratulations! What an incredible achievement, well done!
A massive well done to St. Andrew's football team – living out our school values!
