Easter bonnets:
Wow look at our Easter bonnets!

Our role play area has been changed into a shop to help support children with their learning of money. We talked about how change works today and what the number sentence looks like for I have 50p and bought a book for 10p to find the change that will be given by the shop keeper.
Dictionary work:
Year 1 and 2 children have been using dictionaries to help with their spellings. The children enjoyed the challenge of finding different words and reading what they mean.
Germs:
We have talked about germs and how germs spread by using glitter, water and hand soap. The children found it really interesting watching the germs (glitter) spread around the classroom and seeing the germs runaway when the children washed their hands with soap.
The Last Supper:
We talked about the Last Supper and Jesus 12 Disciples. We talked about what could have been discussed around the table and used what we talk about whilst eating such as, about our day and exciting news etc...

Reception children have been enjoying active phonic - trying to make it across the pond on the lily pads (words to sound out and read).
DT - Play park:
We have been designing play parks in our DT lessons. We have investigated, planned, made and evaluated our play park designs.
Tea Party:
Parks class have been learning about tea party and so planned and created their very own tea party and invited Mrs Stanley-Wainwright as our guest. The children had a lovely afternoon and learnt lots.
PSHE:
Today during our PHSE lesson we discussed how we could make decisions on what games we play and the activities we do as a group. The children were able to say that they could vote and maybe take turns when deciding. They also spoke about how they would feel if one person had a lot of bricks or cars and they only had one. We talked about why it was important to share, take turns and communicate with each other.
Jam sandwiches:
We made jam sandwiches as we voted on what our favourite sandwich filling is, and the jam came out as the most popular. The class enjoyed making and of course eating the jam sandwich. We made sandwiches as part of our instruction writing to follow as the Mum in the story (Tiger who came for tea) made sandwiches for the tiger to eat and he ate all of them! We share the bread loaf and jam.
Picnic in the Eco garden:
We took on the role of a detective on Monday as we found a picnic abandoned in our Eco garden so we had to decide who we thought had a picnic in the Eco garden. We had lots of suggestions such as Easter bunny as there were carrots on the picnic blanket. We finally decided on the Tiger who came for tea and there was so much food and drinks and he ate and drank everything.
Plants:
Year 1 children looked in depth at three different plants comparing them. The children used maginflying glasses to see parts of the plants more closely. They then labelled the different parts of a plant such as, roots, stem, leaves, stigma, pollen etc... Great use of key vocabulary in science.
World book day:
Wow! We had so many amazing storybook characters and had a great day sharing our favourite stories with one another and discussing the importance of books.

Children know the 7 continents and know that a continent is a group of countries.

We went on a village walk looking at our surroundings what we could see such as the signs of spring, aeroplanes in the sky etc... We then arrived at the play park to see what equipment it had and what each one does and measure how fun each one is. We then walked back to school listening to what we could hear and could we smell anything in the air. Once back at school we discussed the play park and which piece of equipment was our favourite and why to start our DT project off.
