As the year comes to an end it has been an incredibly difficult year and despite many challenges our children have shown resilience and perseverance. They have focused on all aspects of their learning and tried really hard to be the best that they can be. We are very proud of their achievements.
Staff have had to work even harder this year to cover, support and keep things going in my absences. They have done a remarkable job and for that I am truly grateful. As staff and governors, we have learnt so many things this year that going forward we will implement to ensure that information is shared in a timely manner and communication continues to strengthen in all that we do. Thank you to the whole team including our governors for their input this year.

Retirement
This year we say farewell to Mrs Ellis who has worked at the school for nearly 6 years. Mrs Ellis will be retiring and hopefully enjoy a good rest and being with her family. We had a moving leavers service for her on Tuesday where the children had the time to say their goodbyes. She was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a theatre voucher. We thank Mrs Ellis for all her hard work and hope that she will put her feet up and have a well-deserved rest.
New Midday
Welcome to Claire, who joined our midday team this month. Claire has settled in to school life and has started to get into the systems in place. Having Claire on the team has taken pressure off teaching staff, enabling them to get a break and set up classrooms ready for afternoon lessons.

Farewell Year 6!
We are incredibly sad to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 pupils: Oscar, Jessica, Roseanna, James, Aidan, Jacob, Lottie, Thomas, Alexander, William, Rock, Oaka, Alissa, Jasmine, Elsie and Amelia, but excited about their next chapter! They have been fantastic role models for the younger children and have truly grown into confident, capable, and compassionate young individuals.
We wish them all the very best at secondary school.

Academic Success: We are so proud of all our pupils' progress across the curriculum. In particular, this year we have been praised by the Local authority moderation for Year 6 regarding the amount of writing completed across all subjects and the quality. In addition to this, we want our writing to be even better. Therefore, it continues to be a school focus across school with a particular focus on spelling. Over the summer, it would be amazing if children could write diaries, letters and book reviews to keep their love for writing.
Miss Price is part of the George Spencer maths hub and this year has been attending a range of events to help support maths outcomes across school. Miss Price has worked really hard to ensure that each classroom has the correct resources to aid children’s understanding of the different maths concepts.
Ms Middleton is part of the Literacy cluster group where she gains new information and will share this with our staff to continue to make improvements within Literacy.
Mrs Richardson works alongside the sports partnership to make sure that all children have access to high-quality sport and to give us the opportunity to attend a range of sporting events within the local area.
Mrs Gresswell is part of the NATRE primary Exec board and wrote an article for RE Today magazine about our amazing RE wow weeks and how we as a school celebrate world religions.

Celebrating Our Year: Highlights & Achievements!
This year has been packed with memorable moments! Here are just a few:
Spiritual Growth: Our collective worships have continued to be a cornerstone of our school life with support from Rev Ailsa who comes into school each Monday to help our collective worship leaders and staff support the spiritual wellbeing for all. The Easter service was one of the best turn outs with lots of parents and grandparents attending.
|
|
Creative Arts: From our spectacular Nativity plays, KS2 summer show to the vibrant artwork displayed throughout the school, our pupils have truly shone creatively. Our children have had the opportunity to enjoy live music and theatre all within the school environment. We hope that these experiences have enabled some children to be brave enough to try something new and find new hobbies.

|
The community service helped us to engage with the local community. It was wonderful to see that our elderly residents were able to join us. Our children enjoyed serving refreshments and chatting with the congregation. This is something we intend to do again as the feedback from the community was rewarding. From this experience and the work that has been done around collective worship, we have gained a Bronze award.

Educational Visits & Enrichment:
Learning truly comes alive outside the classroom! This year, pupils enjoyed trips to the museum of childhood, Peak wildlife and Magna. These experiences provided invaluable learning opportunities and created lasting memories.
Our Harvest Festival collection went to the local food bank, which has a massive impact on those who need this support.
Dragons' Den which the year 5 children ran across the whole school. The children had the chance to present their ideas to the dragons. This was a wow moment to see some of our children gain confidence to speak to an audience and also to support the younger children in school in the range of learning experiences.

Sporting Triumphs: We've had a fantastic year with regard to sports! The children have taken part in a range of experiences which has helped keep them active and also given them a chance to take part in competitions. Sports day was phenomenal seeing our sports leaders organising and supporting our younger children was a real credit to the hard work they have done all year. Our lunchtimes and plays times have been very busy as our sports leaders have planned and delivered a range of inclusive opportunities for all children. Well done to everyone who participated in our sporting events.

Community & Charity:
Our commitment to serving others continues to be a priority, just to mention a few. Thank you for your incredible generosity in supporting Skipathon, which went towards Cancer research and our new school library. As staff, we chose Cancer research in memory of our colleague Karen MacAndrew, a TA who worked for a number of years at Stanley School, who died this year. Our Harvest Festival collection went to the local food bank, which has a massive impact on those who need this support.

Governors
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to our dedicated Board of Governors. In a small primary school like ours, the role of our governors is particularly vital. They are volunteers who generously dedicate their time, expertise, and unwavering commitment to ensure our school thrives. Their strategic oversight, challenge, and support are instrumental in shaping our vision, maintaining our high standards, and ensuring the very best outcomes for every child.
Our governors work tirelessly behind the scenes, from setting the school's strategic direction, scrutinising budgets and ensuring our resources are used effectively. Their invaluable contributions directly impact the quality of education and the nurturing environment we provide.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such a passionate and engaged governing body. Their dedication helps us to continuously improve, adapt, and provide a truly special place for our children to learn and grow. A huge thank you to Andrea who has been a governor at our school for many years and has decided to give up her role for new challenges, we wish her the very best.
We are looking for a new governor who is not a parent or grandparent, with marketing skills to join the team. If you know of anyone who you think would be able to fulfil the role of marketing school to grow our numbers please contact the office.

FOSS Committee,
We appreciate the immense impact of your hard work. Your tireless efforts in organising Christmas, summer fairs, discos, movie nights and supporting sports day. The range of fundraising events have helped to provide resources for classrooms and given our children additional experiences. The impact of FOSS has made a real and tangible difference in the lives of our children and the overall vibrancy of our school.
We understand that countless hours of planning, organising, and volunteering go into everything you do, often behind the scenes. Your passion for enhancing the educational experience and creating a supportive environment for our children is truly inspiring.
Summer fair raised a total of £500 which will go towards purchasing new I Pads in the new term.
