Think about 2 ways that you are the same as a family member and 2 ways you are different, write them down.

What do you notice about them?

What does it mean to be equal?

Think about these different people...

  1. John has a disability.
  2. Karim is a refugee.
  3. Alana is female.

How might these 3 people not be treated equally? Why?

Complete this sentence:

Look at the power point showing flags from around the world.

Are any flags the same?

Just like people, flags and countries they represent have similarities and differences, and although we can be grouped by similarities we share, each and everyone of us shares common needs:

  • to be treated kindly
  • to be listened to
  • to eat and drink
  • to have shelter

Draw a flag with 4 sections.  Draw something in each section that represents you, e.g. family, religion, interests, culture.
