Rolls Royce Visit
Golden Eagles were very lucky to spend the morning with some inspiring engineers. We learned all about the structure and history of the company and got to see some engines close up. We also found out how a jet engine goes through the design and build process and used this process to design, make and test some paper planes. See some photos of our visit below.
During Spring Term Golden Eagle Class have been making Automata
- moving models.

Growth Mindset Workshops
We really enjoyed our Growth Mindset workshops today. Ian taught us to show resilience, to work hard and to never give up. We produced some fab pictures of Wallace!
A very wet and windy day! This didn't stop us from climbing the heights of th e high ropes, soaring through the air on the zip line and scurrying through the challenge of sky line.
The evening team challenge was to protect a raw egg, using a minimal amount of mateials and launch it from a second floor window, hoping it wouldn't become a scrambled egg!
Lea Green Day 1
The children have had a great day. Year 5 plus 2 have been on the stream walk . Year 6 have been on the low ropes, obstacle course, equilibrium and buggies 😀. The day finished off with night walk and hot chocolate. Now it's bedtime (I hope!).
World Book Day 2019
We have had some fantastic costumes this year!
We enjoyed sharing our favourite books with Puffin Class and designing our own book marks. The staff also shared their favourite poems with us.
Spring Term Art & DT Project is making Automata. We will design and create a 3D moving model of an endangered animal.
Watch this space for more details...
So far, we have investigated how cams and followers work and how they create movement. We made a simple 2D model of a working cam to help us understand the mechanics.
Reach For The Stars!
This is our class motto this year.
We are all aiming to reach our own personal star!
Autumn Term Art & DT. Project has focussed on birds.
We began the term sketching birds using pencil (HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, 6B); seeing how the different pencils created marks of differing intensity. We carefully studied the details in our bird on a photograph and recreated the birds in our sketch books. We also studied bird feathers and drew a single bird feather in even greater detail.
