Spring 2

Spring 2 overview with home learning:

Wow the year 1 and 2 children had the opportunity to be Food inspectors yesterday who visited the classroom classic cafe and found some very serious issues. The children dressed up and found several concerns within the cafe which have been noted and will be part of their report on the hygiene and safety of the cafe.

Wow what a lovely afternoon spent with the whole school on a ramble. The focus of this ramble was: Who am I ? All the children and staff enjoyed the walk and had lovely discussion.

We have had a lovely morning working together. Angelou children shared their experience and new learning from the Buddhist trip they were part of.

Year 1s used the resources to support their learning on weight, less more and equal.

Year 2 have worked with Mrs McGuinness on developing a investigation to see what local birds prefer to eat. The children have started to build recycled bird feeders to complete their scientific investigation.

The reception children have had a great more in our outdoor provision; building a school, a ramp for cars to go down, making mini beasts out of playdough and much more.

Year 1 children worked in pairs to create a weather forecast for the next three days. Great teamwork and use of geography skills applied.

Great discussion and explanations around food chains by the Year 2s.

Amazing geography work finding out about the UK identifying the different countries that make up the UK and major cities within the UK as well.

Great work categorising food.

Maths Morning

We had a great Maths morning where we looked at part whole models, ten frames, making shapes with cubes and using base ten. We worked hard finding out how to use the equipment to help us to solve problems.

Hannah the Vet

Hannah the vet came into  see us at school after lending us some of her equipment to look at. She told us lots about her favourite animals and what types of animals she sees. These include cats, dogs, horses, sheep and even dolphins!

Amazing animal visit:

Wow what a morning, Parks' class has had a few visitors today. The children were amazing and asked lots of questions and encouraged other children as well. We saw a ball python, skink, a chocolate skunk, tortoise, cockroach and much more. Thank you to Fudge&co for visiting today.

This week in maths we have been ordering numbers, spotting missing numbers in a number line and finding out 1 more and 1 less. The children have worked really hard.
